HERO High School

Health, Education, and Research Occupations High School (HERO) is an Early College high school serving grades 9-14, focused on preparing students for health careers. Students at HERO High have the opportunity to begin taking college courses the Spring of 9th grade and have the opportunity to continue their education at Hostos Community College, fully funded and supported by the Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP). This pathway allows students to complete an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Community Health and apply for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) programs if they meet eligibility criteria. HERO High is one of the P-Tech schools mentioned by President Obama in the 2013 State of the Union address and featured recently in the Time magazine piece entitled The Diploma That Works.

HERO ensures students graduate with a Career and Technical Education (CTE) high school diploma and supported entry into careers in healthcare, nonprofit management, or education.  HERO High School's innovative program aims to equip a diverse student population with the skills, knowledge, and credentials necessary for successful careers in health-related fields.
