Description

This course introduces techniques for interpreting and writing about film, combining the study of literary elements such as setting, plot, theme and character with the study of filmic elements such as mise-en-scène (staging), cinematography, editing, and sound editing. Students will also examine the basic history of motion pictures, explore common film genres, and analyze the process of adaptation. ENG 237 reinforces research skills using print and on-line sources specific to the discipline of film studies. (HONORS)
