Description

The student will classify and describe the main groups of microorganisms, and isolate and cultivate microorganisms in the laboratory. The concepts of general microbiology will be correlated with the oral ecology and factors associatedwith pathogenesis. Special emphasis will be placed upon correlation to periodontology, dental caries, and phase contrast microscopy. Sterilization, disinfection, asepsis, and chemotherapy will also be emphasized.
